Friday saw the launch of Welcome to Yorkshire, the new branding for the Yorkshire Tourist Board.
Guests and speakers at the Royal Armouries included Rosie Winterton (MEP for Yorkshire), Tricia Penrose and Nikki Sanderson (from ITV's Heartbeat) and cricketer Michael Vaughan.

 The Sheffield & district society of accountants held their annual dinner at Cutlers' hall. The guest speaker was Paul "the Sinnerman" Sinha (of ITV the Chase fame). VIPs included the ICAEW president, the deputy Lord-lieutenant, the High Sherriff, the master Cutler and several local ICAEW presidents.

 Bradford festival choral society held a concert at the "spiritual home" of St. George's hall In Bradford, along with the Yorkshire symphony orchestra. Pieces performed included Zadok the priest and Mozart's requiem.
