Christmas ball

The temptation!

Image
North Riding Dales licensed victuallers association 50th ball at Ripon Spa hotel saw both Simon (T & R Theakston) and Paul (Black Sheep brewery) at the same event; they both have sponsored it in past years. Free beer and I was driving.

A sight for sore eyes

Image
It seems like an eternity since I last saw Christine Talbot with her Calendar partner in crime, Duncan Wood. Christine's first presenting engagement since her recent illness was the Yorkshire young achievers awards at Elland Road.

Say "awww"!

Image
Ring Automotive donated vital money to keep training more guide dogs for the blind. Young and old in the picture (dogs, I mean!).

Sunny but cold

Image
After the recent rains it was nice to see some sun today for a mainly outdoor job photographing a floor beam manufacturer. But I hadn't reckoned on how cold it was and needed frequet cups of tea to keep my hands warm!

Has "Movember" gone too far?!

Image
The national neonatal transpost group conference at the Royal Armouries, Leeds. The baby's moustache isn't real, promise!

Where's it all gone?

Image
The first time I've seen behind the facade of the Globe works in Leeds, I see that the building's gone & all they've left are the italianate chimneys.

Well done, again

Image
Hannah Cockroft at the Yorkshire awards last night, where she & fellow Olympians won the sports award.

Who's that?

Image
Esther Rantzen at the NSPCC Newcastle branch yesterday, talking to volunteers and some school kids. Esther is so well known to us oldies, but I overheard one of the kids asking her teacher "who's that?" By the way, that's buddy the speech bubble, not an M&M!

Christian Muslim forum

The C M F near neighbours / northern leaders event at Hinsley Hall, Leeds.

Light up the sky

Image
The light up the sky ball at the Marriott hotel, Leeds, in aid of Martin house, Bluebell Wood & the Forgetmenot Trust, sponsored by HSBC Leeds. Some familiar faces.

Christian-Muslim forum

Image
Two days of photographing and filming the Christian-Muslim forum meeting at Hinsley Hall, Headingley. Two of the subjects from the TV programme "Make Bradford British" were speakers, amongst many others.

Second job

Matt Wolfenden, an Emmerdale actor, at Hallmark cards today, designing a Christmas card for competition winners. A pretty good design was the verdict of the professional card designers; maybe a second job if the acting dries up?!

Kids!

Image
Sam Grundy from Kids Wakefield Fundraising was at the Redrow Homes new development at Wrenthorpe, Wakefield, with her olympic torch yesterday to raise some much needed funds.

Staff photos

A selection of staff photos at the Yorkshire Building Society.

What a reception!

Image
The reception for Hannah Cockroft in Halifax where she was awarded Freewoman of the town.

The girl dun good

Image
Hannah Cockroft and her mum, Rachel, and brother, Josh, at the civic reception in Leeds this morning for the paralympians. I dread to think how many people have liked those medals so far! Hannah is my wife's god-daughter; she was a premature baby who nearly died & I remember the little girl who has grown to be the world's best at what she chose to do by sheer hard work. It's humbling, but astounding at the same time. The girl dun not just good, but brilliant.

Wedding dresses

Image
2 dresses from the Tia and Watters 2013 collections by Benjamin Roberts at the British bridal exhibition, Harrogate, where I was photographing and filming today.

Good shopping

The sign for Dressed of Harrogate in Westminster Arcade, Harrogate.

Sunny Wakey

Image
Another job today down at Trinity Walk in Wakefield; today it was an opportunity to get some sunny shots of the centre.

A lovely couple

Image
A wedding at Crab Manor, Asenby; a boutique hotel with an "eclectic" range of decorations, including a "yeti".

Britain still makes something!

Image
Today I was photographing 2 engineering companies in West Yorkshire who make a wide variety of metal parts for industries ranging from cars to nuclear power. It's nice to see British companies still succeeding in manufacturing.

The wedding of Nichole & Phil

Image
Yesterday's wedding at the Bridge Inn, Walshford (near Wetherby) of Nichole & Philip.

Nightwear

Image
A shoot of pyjamas and robes at an apartment in Leeds yesterday. Nice warm outfits on the hottest day of the year so far!

And finally....

Image
The last photo i n the batch of many when all the staff had got there and all were looking the right way, eyes open! S M A staff at directors at the Birmigham auction site.

Makes you feel humble

Image
The formal part of the ceremony to dedicate the Durham Light Infantry's memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum on Sunday, in the presence of HRH Princess Alexandra (colonel in chief). The pride of the old soldiers really rubs off on you; still gives me goosebumps. One of the places on the DLI's colours is Afghanistan, 1919. Here we are a century later and have we learned? No. It amazes me that so many have put so much into keeping our country free at the behest of politicians, most of whom wouldn't know one end of a gun from the other.

Wheelchairs of steel

Image
Went back in time today to about 1980 when I saw Saxon at St. George's hall in Bradford. They're still gigging & recording, but looking somewhat older these days. Had a chat about the old days with singer & bassist Biff Byford. They're currently rehersing and composing their new album at LS Live in South Kirby.

"New" site

Image
The BP Dewsbury service station has almost been rebuilt and was relaunched today, alongside a new Nisa local shop. As soon as I turned up to take exterior photos, the heavens opened, as usual!

Sun? What sun?

Image
Monks Cross shopping have sponsored a shade area for Bishopsthorpe playgroup so the children can play and read outdoors when the sun's out. But where's the sun?

Brings back memories

Image
Yesterday's job was photographing a community garden project at a school in York. The photo is of a grandad explaining to his granddaughter about chickens. It brought back memories of myself when I was about that age and my grandad showing me the chickens he kept.

Keep on running

Bet they were glad they weren't there!

Image
The Forget me not trust held an Ascot ladies' day lunch at the Holiday Inn, Brighouse; at least with them being indoors it meant not getting drenched at Ascot itself.
