Radio job number 2

Image
The second radio photography job in as many days; this time, photographing the new signage at 105 Capital FM (the old Galaxy Yorkshire). Pictured; Simon Hirst of Hirsty's daily dose.

Radio, radio (anyone remember that song?!)

Image
2 jobs this week at radio stations. This is the first; BBC Radio Leeds presenter Liz Green.

Ellenyi at Bojangles, Pudsey

Up & coming singer Ellenyi at the Dunwell Brothers Christmas party at Bojangles, Pudsey. Song 1 of 7; the rest will be available soon on her Facebook, YouTube & MySpace pages.

A winter wedding

Image
A wedding video at Walton Hall, Waterton Park. The hope had been that the snow would have stayed. Unfortunately, it had turned to slush, but fortunately the hotel has a snow machine! Actually, it's a foam machine that's normally used in nightclubs, so I kept my camera out of the way rather than get it wet. This is a still photograph taken from my video camera.

'S no joke

Image
OK, that joke's probably been used a million times this week. Bradford & Airedale cancer support held their Snow ball at the Stansfield Arms, Apperley Bridge.

Christmas has started already

Image
Christmas trees being unloaded at Asda's distribution centre. Can you guess the name of the company the lorry belongs to?!! (By the way, I didn't get the tractor unit's name for those spotters amongst you).

Mum knows best

Image
Behind every star is a Mum who's done an awful lot of the work. Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud with her mum Diane after receiving her award for personality of the year at the Yorkshire Young Achievers awards at Elland Road.

Anyone for a Brazilian?

Image
Sunday morning, when most are still in bed, I was photographing Brazilian style dancing for a new dance class website.

Bradford City heroes

Image
Bradford City stars past & present turned out at Bradford Grammar School for the One in a million awards. Pictured are Stuart McCall (former player & manager), John Hendrie (former player) and Peter Taylor (current manager). www.oiam.org

The grumpy old lady follows the yellow brick road

Image
The Firecracker ball in aid of Barnardo's at Rudding Park hotel last night. The theme was the wizard of Oz, with Dorothy being played by Amy Diamond and the MC being Helen Lederer.

Sleeping on the job

Image
Kids from Moorside Community Primary School opened the new showhouse at Redrow Homes's Wheatley Chase site, Halifax.

Bradford City Hall

Image
A model of City Hall, Bradford. I was there photographing the Lord Mayor's appeal film themed event.

Which witch?

Image
Bradford & Airedale cancer support in the pink lunch at the Midland hotel, Bradford. I get the pink stripes (cancer support), the witches' hats (halloween), but not sure where the spiders inside the hats come in.

Alice in Wateraidland

Image
Yorkshire Water organised the Wateraid ball at the National Railway Museum, York.

Nothing as constant as change

Image
Another batch of promotions and changes in staff meant job title amendments to old photos as well as new staff to be photographed.

More balls

Image
Photographed two charity balls last night. Photos are of the organising committee of each. The Leeds Mencap masquerade ball at the Metropole hotel and the Fall Ball in aid of Breast Cancer Haven at Elland Road, Leeds.

Before & after

Image
An example of some editing done on one of yesterday's photos of Nick Clegg visiting Embrace. The lady on the right had "wandered" into the photo by mistake and I was asked to remove her. So I also took the opportunity to "clean up" the cars.

Nick Clegg DOESN'T have to announce a cut!

Image
Nick Clegg, deputy prime minister, for once not having to announce a cut. Instead some good news; the official opening of Embrace, the children's transport service. Mind you, what a difference a year makes; last time I photographed him at the Leeds & N Yorks chamber of commerce dinner, he arrived on his own and had time to chat to everyone. Now there's a trail of policemen arriving ahead of him, he arrives with several men with "bulging armpits" and he's whisked off without even having chance to have a butty! At least he got a cuppa.

Lemon aid

Image
Keith Lemon and Christa Ackroyd were at the Annabelle Rose Trust ball at the Queen's hotel, Leeds last night to aid fundraising. www.annabellerosetrust.org

Another sad, but interesting, day

Image
The Carlsberg Leeds "Your day" event; probably the last time they'll run one before the brewery shuts next year. They've brought back the "Huntsman" logo and had a competition to design a commemorative logo, as well as a heritage trail around the Joshua Tetley brewery. A lot of history in that building!

Brace yourself

A sinking feeling!

Image
Wedding at the Cedar Court hotel, Bradford. Unfortunately the lawn was damp, so all those high heels sank! Another wedding where I did both video (of the build-up and ceremony) as well as photographs.

This job takes the biscuit!

Image
Machinery for cutting Kitkats. Unfortunately, the wafers were inedible ones; not fair!

Black wedding dress

Image
The Benjamin Roberts collection for 2011 at the British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate included a black wedding dress.

All the girls love a uniform

Image
3 rifle at the Help for Heroes ball at the Queens hotel, Leeds. Yesterday they were awarded the freedom of Wakefield, so they spent the evening in Leeds!

Happy but sad

Image
Carlsberg family fun day at the Tetley's brewery. A happy event and fun for those who attended, but sad as the brewery will be closing. The "huntsman" was there (the Tetley mascot).

How can anyone forget Nicky?!

Image
The West Yorkshire Forgetmenot Trust glitz & glamour ball at the Cedar Court hotel, Huddersfield. Someone "forgot" to fill Nicky Pattinson's glass!

What a lot of bull!

Image
Yesterday's wedding was at King's manor, York. The groom's nickname is Bull, hence why he's sat on the statue.

Pretty in pink!

Image
See if you can guess the theme colour for this wedding at the Ramada Jarvis Bankfield hotel, Bingley

Poor puss is getting old!

Image
Over the years I have photographed many weddings at Hazlewood Castle. When I first started going there it was still a Carmelite monks' retreat. I have watched the castle's black cats go from nearly feral felines who wouldn't stay still for photos to elder staesmen. Now even I'm quicker than they are!

Swanage

Image
Another 360 degree panorama; this time Swanage harbour

Kismet?

Image
The Hardy monument and Black Down moor in Dorset; a 360 degree panorama.

Shiny, shiny

Image
Today's job was in Gateshead, photographing the tooling that is used to make shells. Of the bomb sort, not the sea sort! Scary! Nice shiny metal; a headache to photograph.

A Sunday quickie!

Image
A quick shoot of some updates to my client's latest bathrobe range

It didn't rain, but it poured!

Image
Saturday's wedding started with the threat of rain, but slowly the sun came out. Instead, the guests threw more confetti than I've seen in ages and a gust of wind blew it all onto me!

Scary rabbit, blind rabbit!

Image
The Yorkshire Publicity Association ball at Rudding Park last night. The theme was Alice in Wonderland, and there were 2 white rabbits there; one scary, and the other one couldn't see where he was going!

Time flies by (when you're the driver of a train!)

Image
No.1 daughter's last week at primary school, so had to dig out a photo of her on her first day for her to take in. Don't time fly?!

Yoscars again

Image
The winners at the Yoscars; the school chidrens' film event organised by the City of York council at York racecourse.

Pink ladies

Image
A touch of pink ball at the Pavillions of Harrogate in aid of Breast Cancer Haven on Saturday.

The wedding that nearly didn't happen!

Image
The wedding of Katie & Damien at the Holiday Inn, Garforth, nearly didn't happen after the devastating fire at WasteCare on Thursday. The hotel was evacuated, but fortunately re-opened in time.

Cheeky chappie from Salford

Image
That Glorious Noise concert at Harewood House starring Russell Watson and Camilla Kerslake. In aid of the Muscular Dystrophy campaign http://www.muscular-dystrophy.org/ Even the cheeky chappie from Salford was upstaged by Austin Atkinson!

What is "proud"?

Image
Pictured is Shaun Johnson, site manager at Redrow Homes's Saxon Court development at Sherburn in Elmet. He has just won his SIXTH NHBC pride in the job quality award. Question is, the brief said to get photos of him "looking proud". How do you direct someone to look "proud"? Do you think he looks "proud", or more "happy", or "relaxed" or what other word fits the bill? A philosophical debate!

Reckon you know your DJs?

Image
A selection of DJs and producers from over the years; see how many you can name. Some easy, some harder (Dave Beer & other DJs not allowed to answer!!).

TV awards

Image
The Royal Television Society Yorkshire awards and dinner at the Queens hotel, Leeds. Pictured are Keeley Donovan and Lisa Gallagher (BBC Look North).

More GFW
